How Much Content is Too Much

As a content creator, you are always going to end up asking yourself, how much content is too much? How many times a day/week should you be posting? Do your followers want more or are you annoying them with too much content? These are all absolutely normal questions that you should be asking yourself.

Thankfully, being a content creator has been a great job to have during quarantine because everyone has been increasingly using their social media. Since people are using social media more, have you been posting more? We have noticed that some influencers are going a little overboard on their Instagram feed. Actually, to the point that people are starting to get annoyed and do not want as much content. So, what is the perfect amount of photos to post on your stories and feed?

Does Anyone Really Know How Much Content...

Well, we wish we had the perfect answer, but truly nobody actually knows! However, we can offer great suggestions for what a great amount of content looks like. So, let’s dig deeper into this!

Karen, stop posting five photos a day on your feed. Also, please stop posting so many stories that at the top you just see . . . Nobody wants that, Karen.

Give Them What They Want...

What do your followers want to see? They want you to be engaged with them, but not so much that you cannot see other people you are following when scrolling through your feed! So, Custom Digital Solutions recommends one post per day on your feed Monday-Friday and around 10 stories each week. You could totally post on the weekend as well, but we understand wanting to shut your phone off and step away from work on your weekend.

An influencer that we think does a wonderful job balancing her amount of content is Lindsi Lane Watts (@lindsilanestyle). Lindsi has 274,000 followers, so she is clearly doing something right! Each week she usually posts Monday-Friday and occasionally a little glimpse of what she is doing on the weekend on her stories. Lindsi really values her time with her family away from her phone, which her followers totally respect! Take some advice from Lindsi and don’t be afraid to take time for yourself. Five photos a week is enough!

What Not To Do

A company that has been doing a mediocre job during coronavirus is Revolve. They are posting constantly and doing an absurd amount of live videos. We guarantee if you open your Instagram and follow Revolve, they will be doing a live video. Usually, they partner with an influencer and have the CEO talking with a popular influencer, which is great, but not every single day! This is where we believe there is a limit on how much content you should be posting.

Just to clarify, we totally support the use of live videos, but just maybe once or twice a week! Unless your followers are really into it. Custom Digital Solutions recommends asking your followers what they want to see. Danielle Bernstein (@weworewhat) does a lot of q&a’s with her followers on her stories to engage with them and people love them!

At the end of the day, just post what feels right to you! Your followers just want someone to be real with them and not fake, so as long as you are posting organic content you should be just fine!
